Crime: Money Stolen from Abbaye Bar in Northern Liberties

The Philadelphia Police is looking for the public’s help to identify suspects for a burglary at the Abbaye Bar & Restaurant in Northern Liberties. $15,000 was stolen from the pleasant neighborhood bar at 3:55 a.m. Friday, August 9th.

Two males forced open a first floor window and took a safe (which was empty) and $15,000 cash from a small lock box.

UPDATE: A post to the Abbaye Facebook page states that only a small amount of petty cash, not $15,000 was taken.

One Month, Nine Bars, No Repeats

For the month of March, nine Northern Liberties bars are getting together and making sure they don’t pour the same beer twice. They’re calling it Northern Exposure and plan to offer an unrivaled draft list of over 100 unique beers through the month.

There is no cover charge or tickets, just pay as you go for beers. They’re encouraging small, self-guided bar crawls and there will be Beer Passports to help record the beers tried. Complete one brewer’s offerings in the month and get some free swag.

Check out the Northern Exposure Facebook page for more information and follow @ExposureFest on Twitter.

Seitan Cheesesteaks Make You Cool

Living On The Vedge recommends you up your street cred by ordering the seitan cheesesteak at the Abbaye.

The Abbaye will make you a changed man. The Seitan Cheesesteak here is a special, but it’s usually there, because everyone wants to be with it. Juicy pieces of seitan are smothered with cheese and grilled onions and folded into a roll, with crispy frites and a side of cheese sauce that insists on being used for both. Add beer. You, looking like a person that I want to know.

Foodaphilia At The Abbaye

Foodaphilia settles down for a late night dinner at the Abbaye in Northern Liberties.

Overall, a good meal. The Abbaye is also open late Monday through Saturday, so it’s a good place to hit if you’re hungry at a later than normal hour for dinner. Just stay away from the mac and cheese.
