This is a big week in Philly-area retail happenings, with both good news and bad. We’re losing a great boutique, gaining another cool shop in Fishtown, and hearing rumblings of Suburban Square’s expansion about to be underway. Find out the dirty deets on all the shifts happening in Philly retail news now.

#1. Aoki  is shuttering its doors on June 28th, and there’s unconfirmed whispers of a new shop taking over in its place. For the rest of the month, all merchandise will be marked down, starting now at 20 percent. Select clothes and jewelry are already marked up to 80 percent off, and owner Alina Alter tells us prices will only continue to drop as the month wears on. Everything in-store will be up for grabs, including furniture, lighting fixtures, mannequins and clothing racks for those in the industry. Since opening in April of 2012, Aoki has provided a selection of on-trend home goods, clothes and accessories to the neighborhood; it will surely be missed! 115 South 22nd Street, Rittenhouse, 215-568-2024.

#2. New boutique Vestige is opening in Fishtown. The official opening happens tomorrow, June 3rd, with a party kicking off at 7 p.m. Here, you can find cool clothes, both vintage and new, interspersed on the racks, eclectic housewares like pottery, baskets and woven tapestries, as well as Philly-designed jewelry by Matthew Addonizio. Owner Ashley Gleason oversaw vintage at Urban for 10 years before venturing out on her own, so you know her taste is on point. Want a preview of what the store’s vibe will feel like? Check out her gorgeous home to get excited for the new shop — I hear they’re very similar. Vestige is a welcome storefront addition to the restaurant-and-cafe-studded neighborhood, offering a space for grownups and kids alike to hang out and shop. (Psst: Looking for more great shopping in Fishtown? #3. Suburban Square is expanding in a big way — as in, 20,000 square feet of brand new shops coming to the already-stacked retail hub (Barbour, Madewell, and Lululemon Athletica — yes please). The new space, dubbed Station Row, will be home to stores on the ground level and offices on the second floor. There’s still no word from developers on what shops we can expect, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know. Anderson and Coulter Avenue, Ardmore.

There’s this week’s Philly retail news rundown, folks! Be sure to get out and shop so we can keep all of our amazing local businesses thriving.
