Fireside Camp Supply Is Closing (But It’s Not Going Out of Business!)

Our favorite camping store is trading brick and mortar to become a delivery service.

The bad news? Our camping gear go-to Fireside Camp Supply is shuttering its storefront within the next few months. The good news? The business is merely transitioning into a mobile service where owner Christina Saboe will personally deliver your camp gear rentals to your door. We caught up with Saboe to talk shop, her change in direction, and getting back to her roots.

Aside from being the local authority for all things outdoorsy, Fireside Camp Supply is known for their accessible equipment rentals for the causal camper. While the Grad Hospital storefront will close in a few months, you can still rent a two-person tent for $15 a day (minimum three days). Other popular rentals include the four-person tent for a woodsy weekend with friends, inflatable, insulated sleeping pads for the best outdoor sleep of your life, and double-burner stoves to throw the ultimate tailgate.

Better yet, instead of having to make the trek to the store to collect you gear, Saboe plans to bring all of the equipment to you – so long as you’re within biking distance of center city. She will talk you through all of your newbie camper fears, from how to assemble the tent to which clothes you need to pack.

While we hate to see any store shutter in the city, especially a Best of Philly winner, it’s time for Saboe to take her next step and start living Fireside Camp Supply’s mantra: Get out and explore. Keep up with her travels here, and while you’re at it, rent your camping gear here.
