It was our first week back in the office after a long holiday break (double sigh), and the fashion and retail world didn’t disappoint.  From depressing news (Macy’s) to exciting developments (another Sephora is coming soon!), here is everything you need to know right now to sound like a fashion know-it-all.

Macy’s is closing its Suburban Square location.
This is part of a larger series of closures – 40 in total across the country. Sadly, I’m not surprised. And neither is Donald Trump. [Shoppist]

Meanwhile, Sephora is opening a Suburban Square location.
It’s not all bad news for the Ardmore shopping center! The makeup emporium opens there next Friday. [Shoppist]

Saks is getting into flash sales!
The parent company of the luxe department store bought flash-sale site Gilt Group. Why you care: Saks Off Fifth (the discount arm of Saks) will have way more shoppable online, and Gilt will have in-store pop-up shops. Win, win. [Forbes

And Grindr is getting into fashion, period.
Yep, the gay dating app primarily will be live-streaming the J.W. Anderson’s men’s fashion show next week. No word on whether the male models are single. [New York Times]

A lot of stars at the People’s Choice Awards looked a hot mess.

Two-toned ombré hair is on its way out.
I know. We were just as shocked. But it’s time, no? [Shoppist]
