Wash away your sins with Philly-made bars crafted from holy water. (Yes, really.)

We all knew it was going to happen sooner or later, and now it finally has: pope soap. But these bars are special. They’re handmade by Midtown Village soapmakers Duross & Langel …. from holy water. The soaps — which feature the likenesses of Pope Francis, Mary, and Jesus, Mary and Joseph — will be available by September 11th, and they’ll retail for $7.50 each.

All proceeds from the sale of these soaps will go to Catholic Social Services. “As a baby I was placed with CSS in foster care and adopted (on the 28th of September!) by the Duross family,” explains D&L owner Steve Duross. “This is not only to honor the Pope’s visit and the World Meeting of Families, but to honor my adopted family as well.”

While ‘Pope soap’ sounds cheeky, these bars are actually pretty gorgeous. (Still, I’d display them in a soap dish in a powder room. Because soaping up in the shower with the Pope’s face, well, it just seems kind of wrong.)
