A sneak peek of the store.

Great news on the Main Line shopping front: Waltzing Matilda, a Main Line-based leather goods company, is opening its first brick-and-mortar boutique in Wayne. The shop is soft-opening this Friday, with a grand opening planned for May 15th.

The year-old company, which previously had its studio and workshop above Eaves boutique in Wayne, is setting up shop in a 500-square-foot space at 21 West Avenue.

“I wanted to open a store so that our customers could experience the Waltzing Matilda USA aesthetic and see the entire collection of bags, footwear and accessories, including all of our one-of-a-kind pieces, all in one place,” says Waltzing Matilda owner Mike Balitsaris. “Wayne was the perfect location since it’s close to my home.  I’m able to walk or ride my bike to work and still spend time with my family, living the brand’s lifestyle through and through.”

The shop will sell the rugged, handcrafted line of bags, shoes and accessories (think: belts, tech cases, and a smattering of silver jewelry). Prices range from $35 for small leather goods to up to $700 for some of the bags.

The spring hours will be 10am to 4pm Thursday through Saturday; days and hours will be expanding once the weather warms up. (But the staff is still there most of the week and they’ll be able to help you if you pop by.)
