Today we got some sad news at Shoppist HQ: Arcadia Boutique will be shuttering its door by the end of the month. The sustainable boutique had spent the last seven years at 819 North 2nd Street and has been a fixture in the Northern Liberties shopping scene.

At least there's a silver lining. The boutique is having a huge clearance sale before it closes its doors for good. Here are the details: Starting Wednesday May 14, visit the shop for 25 to 80 percent off all remaining spring and summer clothing, jewelry and accessories. There are still some great brands like BB Dakota, James Jeans, and Greylin in stock, so move quickly while the pickings are ripe. Furniture, display and décor items from the shop will also be available for sale. (We always loved those thimble-style tables.) Note: The boutique will honor all gift certificates, coupons, and store credits through May 31.

Things look uncertain for now, but we at Shoppist will be on the lookout for the boutique's next move.

Not sure what this has to do with Arcadia Closing. Its a sad day when Indy Boutiques have to close

Ah yes another uneducated low info voter. Heres some facts for you. More businesses have failed this year alone than are being created. In reatail 1,400 stores have closed in the first 4 months . thats the total amount of last year alone with hundreds scheduled to close by june alone. Retail sales have cratered again acrosss the board esp in electronic. Clothing? down .9pct. and have been falling the past 4 months.

Malls that have sears or JCP as anchors that have closed now have vacancy rates of 20 pct or more. Look at the Gallery. Kmart closes and wht do they get in? Retail is a dyng part of america. In 5 years half the malls will be ghost towns. Vacant. Half the independant retailers will be gone. People are being taxed to death with health care costs, among many other things thanks to our lousy goverment and the dang epa.

If you want to know why Gas and electric are so high? blame the epa. People just are to lazy to look up the renewable ful credit the refineries have to pay to the epa for each gallon of fuel they produce to the epa for a algae based fuel that doesnt exist that adds over a buck to ech gallon of gas. . then theres ethanol. . Coal fired power plants being shut down has added over 40 pct to cost of electricity in the past 3 years in the east coast.

EPA has added almost 4, 500 in costs to the average family of 4 in the past 5 years since obama has been in office and again people just keep voting the same idiots in why? low info voters want free stuff as long as people pay for it and the small businesses suffer. . Americans are taxed out, tapped out. we are spent out. We are now witnessing Obama destroying the middle class and people like you are to damn stupid to see why? Your pathetic
