Name: Ashley Renee

Day Job: Yoga teacher, studying with Dhyana Yoga.

Where We Found Her: InLiquid's Benefit v. 14 at the Crane Arts Building in Olde Kensington.

What She’s Wearing: Nirvanna Designs headband from Lost + Found; vintage striped hooded sweater; vintage mink ("Couldn't tell you where I found it, certainly secondhand. I don't buy fur anymore, but I've had it for many years"); Coach purse "from ten years ago.

"

Where She Shops: Secondhand spots like Once Worn in Northern Liberties, Super Thrift in Kensington, or other people's closets. "When I do boutique I like to feel welcome and have a good exchange with whoever’s behind the counter. Moon + Arrow and Lost + Found do this well. Moon's jewelry designers are usually working in the shop, too, so I can ask questions.

"

Sound Bite: "What is my favorite thing about Philly fashion? Pajama pants."

Err. I’m sorry, but given my own sense of style I may (however outrageously) feel dignified in saying I can’t believe this kind of hobo-chic look is being glorified. That purse? Seriously? I would throw that out, or let a 4 year old use it to play dress up with at best. As should she. Our generation has become so absorbed in being “different” that we are going way too far in our mission to not be so main stream.

Style is many different things to many different people. Our job is to document. Your job is to discuss.

I love the whole look. The colors are very complimentary. I think it’s all about the color. Not the bag. She brings a very warm look without “over bundling”. I dig it.

    Fur. Ugh.

And also Vagabond, Philly AIDS Thrift, and sometimes 8th and Wolf.

      What’s at 8th and Wolf?

A crappy thrift store that’s been around forever but once in a while some attic is dumped into it and there’s great finds.
