Joan Shepp’s New Location Is Finally Confirmed

From Walnut Street to Liberty Place to ...

The fashion set has been buzzing about where Joan Shepp‘s permanent location will be for eons (or at least it seems that way). The rumors were endless (the old Daffy’s space! She’s not reopening, ever! She’ll stay in Liberty Place!). Now, as our friends at Philly Chit Chat report, cat’s (finally) out of the Balenciaga bag: Joan Shepp’s moving into the old mattress store at 1811 Chestnut Street.

The exterior is certainly not as awe-inspiring as her old digs at 1616 Walnut Street (she was forced out after learning her rent would triple, thanks in part to national retailers with deep pockets crowding onto the city’s most desirable retail corridor). But evidently it’s got a great staircase inside and a prime location right across the street from Boyds (and, in a hilarious juxtaposition, next to a dollar store). In any case, I’m sure the Shepp team will do something fabulous with those window displays. Dollar Plus: You’ll need to seriously up your visual merchandising game. See more photos of the space here.

Psst: Haven’t visited the Liberty Place pop-up (shown above) yet? Head there on January 15th for my favorite sale of the season: Joan Shepp’s annual Basement Sale, where you can score lust-worthy pieces at wallet-friendly—or wallet friendlier—prices.
