BEST OF PHILLY
Best of Philly 2007: Guy's Haircut, City

What made our stable of shockingly finicky (and shamelessly hirsute) male guinea pigs fall so hard for Jason Matthew Salon that they were willing to cheat on the same $10-a-cut barbers they’ve been going to since kindergarten? For starters, there’s the soda-stocked mini-fridge. Then there are the free soft pretzels and granola bars. There’s the casual exposed-brick reception area and the comfy leather couches. But mostly it’s the expertise and experience and, well, listening skills of Pileggi transplant Jason Sparks, and Matthew Diacont, and rising stars like Joyce Miele, who don’t go with what they want, but with what their customers want. (Curly-haired guys will be especially pleased to see their locks maintained — not hacked off.)
