Now that the weather’s at that weird in-between stage, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect transition pieces to take my wardrobe from summer to fall. Here, my gotta-have-it finds that will stylishly get you through these next few weeks—because flip-flops and wool pants just doesn’t cut it.

1. Cardigan
Forgo the twinset and opt for a slightly slouchy, low V-neck, thigh-grazing version. I’m channeling my old high school uniform with Vince’s supersoft cashmere-cotton blend cardigan ($215 at Knit Wit).

2. Boots
Pair boots with a sundress to instantly fall-ify summer frocks. I’m coveting Ralph Lauren’s Serena riding boots ($1,100 at Bloomingdales).

3. Scarf
I loved sporting my summer scarf, but this one, in lightweight wool and rich colors is more fall- appropriate. Loosely knit it and pair with jeans and a long-sleeved tee ($98 at Anthropologie).

4. Tights
Only opaque, please. Splurge on my fave import from across the pond: Wolford’s velvety-soft legwear (from around $40 at Joan Shepp — they’ll even special-order a pair for you). The price tag may seem hefty for hose, but they’ll last much, much longer than the $7.99 ones at CVS. Promise.

5. Jacket
One with three-quarter sleeves is just right for fall. Come winter, pair with elbow-length gloves for sophisticated, old-school style. I adore Nanette Lepore’s bell-sleeved swing jacket ($385 at Neiman Marcus).

These buys look fantastic! If only you wrote about a guy's wardrobe! I find myself only wearing t-shirts!
