Web Original: Style Report: Two new home stores and a NYT mention

By Ashley Primis

Roche Bobois is a Paris-based home store that’s got a great collection of furniture that ranges from super-slick to more transitional to wildly colored statement pieces that are more worldly. And now we’ve got a location in Old City. This is a big addition to our home-shopping front (and we join the ranks of NYC and Boston with a store of our own). We’ll keep you updated on new lines and sales there, but you should check it out.

Volpe Tile and Marble has been an area staple for years, and now they just opened their fourth location in Paoli (1604 E. Lancaster Avenue, 610-644-5801), but this one is more like an everything-for-your-home design center. Inside the showroom (meant to cater to professional builders and designers and me and you), there’s Volpe Tile and Marble (duh), a landscape and hardscape design company, a home theater/tricked-out electronics company, a super luxe company named Baltic Leisure that custom builds things like wine cellars, steam rooms and humidors and some more places to outfit your home. You don’t need an appointment to browse all the mini-shops.

Did everyone see the New York Times' T Style magazine last Sunday? There was a great one-pager written by friend-of-Philly Caroline Tiger, that takes us on a tour of Philly’s great design spots, just in time for this month’s DesignPhiladelphia. Check it out here ( then surf on over to DesignPhiladelphia’s website to take part in the fun.

COMMENT:
Roche Bobois has been on the Philadelphia scene for many years having had a showroom in the Marketplace Design Center at 2400 Market St. It's great to see them settled into their new space.
