Style Report: Special Deals In AC, Georgie Girl Gets New Digs and Two New Salons Reviewed

The Chelsea, AC’s newest hotel (read a NYT article about it’s club here) is offering some the-economy-sucks packages that are worth a look. Our favorite is the Rescue Package, which offers an overnight stay, breakfast for two at Stephen Starr’s new restaurant, Teplizky’s, two rolls of quarters and a $50 gas reimbursement for $199 Sunday-Thursday, $249 on Friday and $299 on Saturday.

The Haddonfield location of Best Of winner Georgie Girl has moved a few doors down from a store that was 500 square feet to one that is now 2,000. They’ve moved their stellar lingerie collection to the second floor and filled the first floor with clothes, accessories and shoes, from the likes of Zinc and All Black. We’ll check it out and report back. Oh yeah, their new address is 105 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield. Same phone number.

A few months ago I mentioned two new salon openings in Old City, and I convinced Senior Editor Christy Speer to give one of them a try. She loved Bang, which, despite being located on the second floor of Sweat Gym, is really pretty and feminine. It’s helmed by super-sweet husband-and-wife team Carlos and Adrienne Rogers, who know their stuff: She has styled for countless fashion weeks and photo shoots.

I checked out Laskshmi, from former Strands stylists, Danielle Carr and Robin Warriner. I loved everything about the place. The vibe (sophisticated and upbeat, but easy and approachable), the cut and color (from Danielle, who has the prettiest hair and best stories) and the cool upstairs lounge, where they have these awesome ozone machines. Basically, they look like a normal salon dryer alien thingy, but they use steam to lock in color and masks, which A. takes so much less time; B. is quiet; C. doesn’t give off harmful fumes; D. makes your color richer; and E. doesn’t dry out my contacts. Oh, and it’s got an amazing location on 2nd street with huge windows for prime people (tourist) watching.

Lastly this week, I got a tour of Joe Zarett’s rehabbed rehab facility.If you don’t know Joe, he’s a local legend round these parts: He combines his one-on-one stretching technique with physical therapy and exercise to not only rehab people after sports or other injuries, but to help them maintain healthy workouts. Basically, once you go to Joe, you are hooked (just ask the editor of this magazine). Well, he used to have his facilities on the basement floor of a Rittenhouse-area building, but has now taken over all three floors, outfitting it with new, state of the art equipment, and luxe little touches like private showers and a coffee bar. It’s worth checking out.
