Summer Squash

This is a chair. Its name is “Pumpkin,” and it is famous. French furnishing designer Pierre Paulin created the first -Pumpkin chairs in 1971 for French first couple Georges and Claude Pompidou, who lived in the Élysée Palace. Paulin passed away last summer, just before the chair’s manufacturer, Ligne Roset, turned 150 years old. This spring, Ligne Roset commemorated its sesquicentennial and Paulin’s work by introducing this multicolored, felt-covered limited-edition -version — 150 red, 150 blue — at the Milan furniture show. This summer, the Manayunk Ligne Roset will receive its very first pieces of the Pumpkin pie. Store owner Lori Bruno calls the chair “a must-have for the furniture collector.” We say, dig in.
