Style Adviser: On-Air Hair

Which salons do Philly’s African-American news anchors — like Renee Chenault-Fattah and Lisa Thomas-Laury — go to? I want to cut my ethnic, relaxed hair into long layers.

Jessica Blatt replies: Never mind that Chenault-Fattah has Ivy League and law-school degrees, or that Thomas-Laury broke down racial barriers in the newsroom. What we care about is their hair, dammit! Well, NBC 10’s lovely Chenault-Fattah (pictured) says she’s been going to Panache Hair Design for 16 years (205 South 15th Street; 215-545-7166), where Tamika Johnson recently took on the task (from co-owner Frank Altomare) of styling her layered locks. And April Magolon, Michelle Vizzachero and Julie Schoenberg at Changes Salon & Day Spa (30 Greenfield Avenue, Ardmore, 610-649-3773; changessalonspa.com) are responsible for Thomas-Laury’s ABC 6-worthy ’do. Our source on that? We’ll never tell.
