Style Report: Is the Day of the Mall Over?

By Ashley Primis

The Business Journal this week reported on a study released by Wharton School of Business that says malls might not bounce back from the recession for one reason: They are boring. In a study they conduced with the market-research firm Verde Group, Wharton found that people think there is nothing unique or new at the mall, and that there is product and brand redundancy between the stores. (We’ll agree: KOP has Juicy overload.) It should be a challenge to mall owners to shake things up a bit, and dare we say, bring in some indie boutiques. And shoppers: Don’t forget about your good old Main Street, USA. Check our shopping guide to our region’s best suburban shopping.

Boring? King of Prussia has a cute new Danish-born jewelry store called Pandora, which carries its own line of baubles including customizable charm bracelets. There are price points for all budgets (the goods range from $24-$1,100) and a range of metals and stones.

Rizzieri Salons + Spas in South Jerz, are hoping you’ll stop in for some R+R with some great deals: Book your next appointment before you leave the salon and you’ll get 10-percent off your next service or retail purchase. Spend $75 or more on a service and get $5 off your next service. And don’t forget about their Aveda training institutes, where students (who are monitored by teachers) perform lots of salon and spa treatments on the cheap. Check them out here.
