Now Open: Casual Is King

A new store — filled with oodles of carefree apparel — comes to King of Prussia

Denim, neatly stacked on the denim bar, is the hallmark of Madewell, the new-to-our-region store that opened in the Plaza at KOP last month. This rapidly expanding chain may share a CEO with J. Crew, but its relaxed, loose-fitting styles and general-store vibe set the two apart. And so does the frugalista price point — classic, skinny and boot-leg cuts can be found for around $80, while the trendier “ex-boyfriend” jeans are still under $100. But like J. Crew, this store carries the whole head-to-toe package. So you can top off those cuffed shorts with a slouchy crocheted tank, t-strap sandals, a patterned summer scarf, the perfect low-slung belt and aviators. Because it takes some coordinating to look this perfectly undone. The Plaza at King of Prussia, 610-265-1471, madewell1937.com.

Oprah may have declared her love for former Adam + Eve designer Adam Lippes’s t-shirts, but it’s his jeweled single-strap dresses and silky polka-dot tanks that stole our hearts. Which is why we’re jumping with joy about the recent opening of Adam in Bryn Mawr, Lippes’s third boutique. The on-trend but unfussy apparel for men and women (ranging from $30 boxers to $700 dresses) is displayed next to other finds, like one-of-a-kind gifts and books — and, of course, those beloved tees. 831 Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr, 484-380-3099, shopadam.com.
