Type: Taqueria
This no-frills (on a recent visit, we watched as cases of cactus leaves, sweet onions, and avocados were wheeled from the front door through the dining room and into the kitchen) storefront on 9th Street’s not-just-Italian Market serves up deliciously authentic — and fresh (see above) — Mexican fare. Hot chilies are used liberally and the salsa stings, and their spit-roasted savory and sweet tacos al pastor (shaved pork with bits of pineapple in a homemade tortilla) are the best in the city.
