Yakitori Boy

| Text listing to mobile

Yakitori Boy’s signature is “japas”: small, individually ordered skewers of grilled meats (most commonly referred to, of course, as yakitori), 3-piece sushi rolls, mini bowls of noodles, teriyaki dishes, and various samplers. It’s a chic little spot — all dark woods and clean lines, in soothing browns and blacks and cream — and the menu is solid, featuring all the usual suspects, from the starters to the sushi to the skewers, which are tasty and well-prepared, if less than exciting. The best part: the chance to bond with pals over pork-belly-wrapped oba and a chorus of “Sweet Caroline” in one of the 8 soundproof, private karaoke rooms upstairs.

This place is very unprofessional. I booked a room from them and they sent me an e-mail confirmation. THen they gave it away without letting me know because they said I had to buy tickets by a certain day but the lady told me I had 48 hours before the event. They have horrible communication. They just gave away my reserved room without notifying me. They REFUSED to let me speak with a manager after seeing how upset I was. I asked for a refund on the tickets because I purchased them a day late to them. They did not honor it immediately and said they would call back because they were busy and decided to hang up on me. I use to like this place, they need new staff.

A completely disgusting and revolting place based on my experience (not based on the food, only the place itself) Went here her a friends birthday party. They tried charging everyone at the party (over 20 people) a door charge to get in, when they were letting every other person in without charge. What??? After the manager apologized for the doorman trying to charge us, he notified us it was in fact free to get in. We finally were invited to have dinner upstairs. Obviously the doorman was upset at being contradicted, he punched a man in the face as he was walking by him knocking him backwards into the back wall of the staircase. Other people from the party tried to jump in to stop him. What followed next? Asian manager tried to apologize profusely, he was close to tearing up. (I would be to, can we say you're fired?) We didn't want an apology, just a pending law suit. Thank you Yaki - effin - tori B$tch

The food is fairly good. Still not as good as Sagami as far as the Japanese dishes. The service is pretty bad though. The first cup of tea you order will be hot and the taste is how it ought to be. Don't expect them to go out of their way with the second cup however. Also all the food comes out at once so try to ask for a bigger table. I've worked as a waitress b4 at a fine dining Japanese restaurant and I would have been fired for giving this kind of service. Especially on top of that they rush you. The food is good but next time I'll get take-out.

Friends took me there for my birthday, had a great time. They yakitori selection was good, got the sampler platter (chef's selection- if you are not into "organ meats or not adventurous" you can request the Sampler "western" style..as the sampler may include gizzards, chicken hearts, etc..) Sushi bar is good. After dinner went upstairs to check out the karaoke lounge. We ended up getting a room (small room that fits 6 went for $30/hr) we ended up closing the place, 3.5 hrs of karaoke! we left around 245AM!) great time, recommend it. Was just there this weekend for my buddy's wife's birthday, at my recommendation. Everyone enjoyed the food and the late night karaoke.
