South Philly’s The Wishing Well is Chef Carmen Cappello’s tribute to his late father and the neighborhood pubs of his Philadelphia youth. The menu features classic bar food with upscale twits—everything is made fresh on the premises, from the delectable mozzarella sticks to the massive S.H.A.M.E. (Scrapple Hamburgers Are Meaty Eating) burger, a beef patty topped with American cheese, a plank of house-made scrapple, and a fried egg. Six local brews are on tap, along with another six microbrews from around the country. Fifty bottled beers should sate even the thirstiest beer snob.
