Profile

If Turkey Day can’t come fast enough, the Blind Pig has a year-round special made just for you. The new NoLibs bar has hung its hat on its Thanksgiving Balls: globes of turkey and mashed potatoes wrapped in stuffing, then breaded, deep-fried and sauced with gravy. This gimmicky take on Italian arancini is emblematic of the comfort food here: heavy, sloppy, odd, but fairly solid as bar grub goes. Another gimmick is a beer list devoted overwhelmingly to tin—canned brews being the latest craft-brewing trend. Yet despite all this, the Blind Pig feels neither trendy nor weird. It is just what it looks like: a neighborhood bar—in love with its own balls.
