First, owner Daniel Hover opened a fresh fish market in the shadow of Voorhees’s Ritz 16 movie theater. But “people were too busy for that,” Hover says. At his retooled Ritz Seafood, now a 40-seat BYOB, reservations are a must, and the menu boasts tongue-tingling Asian creations like wasabi-stuffed sea scallops. Hover’s favorite isn’t on the menu, but the Thai-style devilfish is a constant special. He wok-fries the hard-to-come-by Malaysian fish, then glazes it with tamarind and chili to add a fiery “wow factor.” Bring a pinot noir or a light red zinfandel to put out the fire.

Based on the Food TV Network I went to Ritz Seafood. I did not realize it was an Asian Theme. I ordered 2 items, Lobster Bisque for $2.00 and the Clams for $8.00. The Lobster bisque came out in a tiny cup which was about 1 to 2 ounces. It contained NO lobster. The broth was OK. The Clams were terrible, they were oily. However, when the bill came, the Lobster Bisques was $5.00. When I questioned the waiter, he said the menu I looked at was the pre-fixe so since my lunch was not the pre-fixed one, I had to pay more. The waiter should have explained that and he did not. This is a deception that the public should be aware of. My recommendation is that TV Food Network rescind their recomendation.

Couldn't wait to get their after seeing it on 'The Best Thing I Ever Ate'. Really tacky atmosphere, man who quasi greeted us had on pajama pants and a flowered shirt, really grungy looking. Food was okay, nothing spectacular, pretty skimpy for lunch; the coconut custard pie was good, albeit way too sweet because of way too much whipped cream (I didn't think that was possible, but honestly, it was toooo much). Overall, not a place to go.

The Ritz Seafood restaurant is a culinary delight. The seafood is extremely fresh and creatively prepared. The service is excellent. My friends and I escape the city and "go away for the day" monthly. We go to the Ritz Movie Theater located in the same shopping center and indulge ourselves with dinner or lunch (under $10) at the Ritz Seafood House.

The Ritz is one of my favorite BYOB's in the greater Philadelphia area. It's perfect for those seafood lovers who desire more than the typical fried or broiled platters that many restaurants offer. There's also a few great dishes for non seafood eate
