The ambience is strictly strip-mall, but the concept’s so fun, who cares? Sure, this new wiener shop (which uses Chicago-fave hickory-smoked Vienna Beef brand) has standards like a foot-long and the corn dog, but co-owner Adam Brush invites you to go beyond basics with combos like the Southern Dawg (chili and cole slaw), the Reuben Dog (corned beef, Swiss, kraut and Thousand Island dressing) or the Philly Dog (with cheesesteak and fried onions — really!). There’s bratwurst, kielbasa and Italian sausage, too. And at these prices — no dog’s over $4 — this is a way-cooler option with the kids than McD’s or the King.

I finally was able to have a hot dog here. I had been wanting to try it since I read the articles in Philadelphia Magazine. I was very happy I did. I had the Sauer Power Dog (w kraut, mustard) grilled along with a shake and outstanding mac n cheese side. I also took a lobster bisque soup home with me. I highly recommend this place.

I really missed the chicago style Vienna hotdogs. The Philly hotdog cafe is the best I have had since leaving Chicago. The people are really nice and friendly to boot. A fun place to visit.

Saw article in Philly Magazine and drove over from Oley, PA on a Saturday after playing chip and putt at Waltz Golf Farm with the little ones. I used to travel to Chicago on business and got addicted to the Chicago dog from Vienna Beef. I figured I'd try a local variation and got a Philly Dog (Cheese steak w fried onions on a Vienna dog & hoagie roll). My son & his friend loved the Corn dogs with honey mustard. My buddy had the Reuben dog. We shared fries, onion rings with honey mustard and pierogis. Everything was very tasty. I hadn't had a good Vienna Beef hot dog in a long time and was pleased with everything. Just like I remember. Worth the drive. They said they were planning to add milkshakes soon. I hop they do. it will complete the experience.

I was thrilled with the concept and rushed to try it, only to be sadly disappointed and almost food poisoned by the execution.
