At the north end of the famed Italian Market, Pat Bombino’s has a contemporary feel, though its fare is heavy on Ninth Street traditions. Pat’s chicken parmigiana might take you back to childhood, but grown up items, like gnocchi with short ribs, offer worthy, gravy-free choices beyond spaghetti and meatballs.

I love this family owned gem. The Chef Matthew is adorable, always stops by to say hello and see how everything is. They have a wonderful menu of Italian classics, and some very innovative updated versions. The pasta is fresh and all the home made sauces make everything delicious. They just put in a bar so no more byob but they have some great wines by the glass. Blows away all those other stops on the street. A must try stop for dinner. Evene the kids love it but go early with kids it can get crowded.

I had a wonderful dinner here last Friday Evening. This Restaurant came highly recommended by friends who have been there many times. I went with 6 other girlfriends and each one of us had a great dinner. We started with a few appetizers, Amalfi Coast mussels, grilled eggplant, roasted peppers, this baked provolone cheese which was to die for and mixed salad. I ordered the special which was Penne Pecorino Alfredo with chicken, sun dried tomatoes and asparagus tips. This alfredo sauce was like no other I have ever tasted. It was truly made to order. The waiter told me why it tasted so unique. Fresh not thick like I have had so many times at other establishments. Everyone was pleased with their meal which is unusual with 7 girls who frequently dine out. My dessert was also delicious. The most outstanding one was the Fresh hand-dipped doughnuts with chocolate and strawberry sauces for dipping. The atmosphere was relaxing and the decor was beautiful. What a refreshing hip new Restaurant for South Philadelphia. I will certainly be back in the future and will recommend Bombino's to everyone I know.
