Japanese street food is the name of the game at Ryo and Nicole Igarashi’s Maru Global; specifically, takoyaki—soft little dough balls stuffed with scallions, ginger, and anything from shrimp to sirloin to octopus. The delectable little concoctions, which are hawked all over Ryo’s native Tokyo by street vendors, come in orders of six or twelve (we highly recommend the twelve). The menu offers a few other casual options, including noodles, rice and soups. Although you’re welcome to sit at one of the few tables in the dining room, takoyaki is meant to be eaten on the go—or better yet, call for delivery.
