Les Bons Temps
114 South 12th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19107
Les Bon Temps has a moody Southern vibe and a playful menu of refined bayou flavors, thanks to young chef Brett Naylor. Don’t miss the Cajun jambalaya, the shrimp and crawfish étouffée or the cloud-like beignets. For Sunday brunch, French toast is doused with bourbon syrup, and those beignets are served as a starter.

I was a regular at LBT, until the service became unbearable. Fluctuating happy hours can change depending on who is dining. For example if a wealthy group or individual decided to dine, weekday happy hours were not available to the remaining customers. The location is not pristine, it is between walnut and market street where one can encounter many a "wanderer," or the common bum, hanging just outside the door. On a few occasions they entered the establishment visibly drunk and nothing was done. The service was bad, which broke the straw last time I elected to eat at LBT. I am familiar with one of the managers that works at the establishment. Over and over he promised happy hour drinks "on him" as a treat or being a regular. At the end of the night, no treat, and a check left on the table. The rest of the staff is very nice. Recently many employees were fired due to loss of business. A possible rumor is being circulated that pornography was being filmed in the upper vip room. The restaurant is overall, not a good place for families or even and individual who enjoys a decent atmosphere. I do have to say one thing, the appetizers and small plates are wonderful. specifically the creme boulettes. Yet, this doesnt outweigh all of the faults.

All 'round pleasant experience: very good food, attentive - not intrusive service, pleasant atmosphere. The gumbo and jambalaya were fantastic, but there is much more to try...

I ate dinner here recently, had the Pork Tenderloin - it was very good. Most of all I was impressed by how friendly the staff is. The restaurant is beautiful! I was so happy to see Abita on draft! One note of complaint: the music should fit this venue - it screams for Jazz, Zydeco, blues. The music playing while I was there was horrible and ordinary. I took my dessert, the bread pudding, to go to enjoy at home and it was very good! All in all, with good music this place would be a perfect 10!!

First-rate experience all-around! The food was delicious, the setting spectacular and the service top-notch. While we didn't drive all the way from Connecticut JUST for Les Bons Temps, friends in Philadelphia had raved, so we tried it and will definitely be back. The chef-owner and staff obviously know what they're doing...and it shows. Right down to a complimentary piece of divine "white velvet" cake for my friend's birthday. Bravo!
