Grape arbors and terraces make magic of the summer season, and a hearth blazes during the chilly months. If you hadn’t just turned off a bustling suburban artery, this 150-year-old farmhouse, with its rustic appointments, could be in Provence. The chef’s talents reinforce the reverie; his classic dishes are emboldened by the flavors of the South of France. So the escargots en croûte are scented with hazelnut, sauced with roasted fennel butter and saffron vanilla. The tender, luscious rack of lamb has lavender in its shallot and herb crust.
