Kibitz Room is a scene straight from a Woody Allen film. The delightfully retro checkerboard cake is cut into thick slices that would make your bubbe gasp, especially if she knew you’d just finished one of the formidable sandwiches. The one not to be missed is the hot pastrami—ruby-colored, crusty-edged, lightly smoked, luxuriantly seasoned meat barely contained between two slices of fresh sourdough rye.
