At the intersection of Midvale and Ridge avenues, a 10-foot-long chili pepper announces Johnny Mañana’s. If you miss the pepper, the Mexican cantina and margarita bar, modeled on some New York favorites, also has a vibrant south-of-the-border paint job. And the flavors at Johnny’s are as eye-popping as the decor, starting with the fiery complimentary salsa and addictive freshly fried tortilla chips. Prices are mild, though. Mexican basics—tortillas, tacos, burritos—are under $10, and entrées peak at around $20.
