We’re always in search of a new Center City lunch spot. Enter Joe Pesce (in the former Pompeii space), serving both lunch and dinner. The noon menu is the ideal little brother of the evening offerings, featuring simply prepared seafood, like the unfussy Pesce salad with heaps of crab and shrimp on crispy romaine. Heartier options like little neck clams tossed with angel hair or more traditional Italian entrees like soft-ball sized meatballs are priced well. But the menu could use a bit more focus — it’s hard to understand where quesadillas, satay and spring rolls fit in with the kitchen’s mostly Mediterranean theme.

WANT CREDIT CARD FRAUD???????
After going for restaurant week,I''ll never go again! Service was HORRIBLE. Our waiter was a jerk however, the ancillary staff was AWESOME. They were very efficient and polite and constantly watched for low water, drinks, bread, clearing of dishes etc..
We had$100 bill (with tip). I get my credit card statement for Joe Pesce and it is $120! Our waiter added to our bill! When I called the manager, was very helpful in hearing my problem. When I asked if they could pull my bill and see the waiter and the changes, they didn't have it. Interesting?
They don't have a computer system that keeps bills from the night, they have a print out. She said she pulled that entire night and couldn't find mine. When I asked the waiter's name, I can't remember it, he didn't use his name but someone who no longer worked there- their card to put in orders. Interesting?
So- no receipt for my bill that is overcharged $20? Interesting.
When I asked to speak to the owner, Robert, he called me back with anger. He began yelling and cussing at me, saying that he refused to give me the $20. He offered a gift certificate. I refused and said that I would have my lawyer contact him becuase it is CREDIT CARD FRAUD!!!
The manger called back the next day telling me I was fuly refunded on my card.
To boot, when I was talking to the owner, before the yelling, he ask how my dinner was. I told him my shrimp tasted like freezer burn and chlorine. He proceeded to get angry and said "Listen, who the hell do you know how has fresh seafood in the city?" Hmm... I thought you advertised "the best always fresh seafood". Interesting.
Joe Pesce was possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Posted by michelle: Jan. January 21st, 2011 at 3:04 PM

My chicken was bad and I quietly returned it.Unfortunately my table was near the kitchen. The loud mouth working in the kitchen, not once but twice was yelling about the person who returned it and laughing about my pizza replacement! Very uncomfortable experience!!! I was pleasantly surprised when I went there a few times ...you don't really appreciate the decor from the outside....it's very nice and the food is awesome. I recommend the meatballs, the scallop appetiser, the tomato/mozzarella stack, and the filet. Try it..you'll love it. Posted by David: Apr. April 8th, 2008 at 3:13 PM

I must say the experience at Joe Pesce restaurant is not a good one. The food itself was nothing short of mediocre and the service was not good at all. We had our own waitor as the restaurant only had two tables of patrons to serve and I went at least ten minutes with an empty glass of wine and an empty glass of water. It should also be noted that the prices on the online menu (as well as the menu posted outside the restaurant) differ from the prices on the menu inside the restaurant, the macaroni and cheese went from $14 to $18 once u were seatd. I would not return. Posted by shannon: Dec. December 12th, 2007 at 8:48 AM
