One of the city's cheesesteak meccas, complete with signed photos of the famous and once-famous who have been spotted at the Art Deco-ish South Street joint, where the line often curls around the block, even in the rain, for the chopped-steak-and-whiz combo. It's more than wit' and wit'out here, though you rarely see anyone order a hoagie. There's some seating upstairs.

I've been her many times and I just don't know why I keep coming back. The steaks are really good if they can get your order right which is never. How can you mess up two steaks with wiz and mushroom and end up with two steaks with american and onions! This has happened to me on at least four occasions. I'm not ordering 15 sandwiches for God's sake! The cook I get is the dumbest of the dumb. I was a short order cook in the 70's and I never got this many orders wrong. I guess I'll just have to go to Dellasandro's and drive the half hour to get my order right. It's good food, if you're lucky enough to get what you ask for...very sad and frustrating. I'm done with Jim's. Posted by rick: Apr. April 26th, 2009 at 9:25 PM
