Jose Garces's most ambitious concept yet combines fancy-casual dining with a tastefully curated gourmet market, a DIY ethos, and Pennsylvania’s first in-restaurant wine store. The menu successfully meanders through Europe (fantastic fusilli carbonara, house-made country pate), with a pitstop in the chef's native Chicago for deep-dish pizza. It's not a restaurant to build an evening around —arguably, it’s not even a real restaurant — with the ring of commercial activity around the main seating area, you almost feel as if you’re eating in a glamorous food court, rather than in the transporting cocoon of a pure dining experience. But at Garces’s first BYO, the trade-off means you're spared the sticker shock of Amada and Tinto.
