Profile

It might be easy to forget that food is served at D’Angelo’s, what with its marvelously trashy summer-on-Ibiza dance scene as well as its favored watering-hole status among graying Rizzo-era nightlifers. But the truth is, we can’t forget it, not when we’ve downed a plate of the gut-busting spaghetti and meatballs served at Sal and Tony D’Angelo’s place a block off Rittenhouse Square. With Sal running the front of the house, Tony’s free to stay in the kitchen turning out classic, hearty Italian dishes that aren’t quite haute but are a long way from red gravy.

Tony's Ziti Aspargus is my favorite thing to eat in Philadelphia! I started going to D'Angelos in my early twenty's when I was single and dancing the night away. Now my husband and I go for dinner and still dance the night away. It is a Philadelphia treasure! A mix of neighborhood locals and beautiful people. The D'Angelo family makes this place special!

I LOVE going to DAngelos...pretty sure I do NOT fall into the graying Rizzo-era nightlifers. I know they have great spaghetti and meatballs, but maybe try the Ziti Asparagus or the Acciugata (linguine w/anchovies, olive oil, garlic & bread crumbs) YUM!!!!! My husbands favorite is Tonys Special Sirloin w/everything on it. We always share the seafood salad first. Oh yes and make sure you go there hungry so you can finish all that food! Then you get to go downstairs have a cocktail and dance off all those scrumptious calories! Saturday nights Inga plays great music that keeps you dancing till closing.
