John Mims (formerly of Bryn Mawr’s Carmine’s) has been busy with two new spots in the ’burbs. Daddy Mims is a little Creole BYO featuring standards like a spicy chicken andouille gumbo, and blackened fish with crawfish étouffée. Without even trying, we overdid it here, thanks to an overly rich bisque and a gargantuan crabcake. Mims’s casual pizza joint next door is better for those who crave the Big Easy without the bloat. The chef turns out slightly misshapen but delicious pizzas — the best of which might be the jambalaya pie with andouille, shrimp, and a kicky Creole sauce. Insider tip: Get two courses  at Daddy Mims, and two pizzas at NOPK.

I went last evening with a group of ladies(12 total) to celebrate two birthdays. We had such a wonderful time. My meal was delicious(seared scallops with shrimp croquettes). Our waitress was wonderful, very accomodating and answered all our questions about the quisine. The meal was topped off with a variety of wonderful desserts compliments of the chef for the birthdays we were celebrating!! They were all out of this world!! A wonderful evening was had by all. DEFINITELY worth trying!!!

I took my parents, on their first visit to phoenexville, to Daddy Mimms. We had the best waitress- funny, engaging, outgoing. A great way to start our weekend. We left on a high note. Thank you to Daddy Mimms for great service.

We stumbled on Daddy Mims last weekend and were thrilled to have another terrific restaurant in Phoenixville! Every course we ordered was delicious and the 3 tables around us felt the same way. None of us knew each other but we all couldn't help sharing our enthusiasm for each course we ate and discussing it with each other. I had the Crab Claws for an appetizer and it was out of this world! Oozing with white wine, butter, garlic and shredded asiago cheese. For an entree, I had the Lump Crabmeat Cake and it, too, was delicious....I took half of it home for lunch the next day.
