Profile

Cramer’s is not the place to go for a complicated French framboisier. It’s a place where you stock up on powdered-sugar-dusted walnut crescent cookies. Or zucchini bread. Or Polish poppy seed rolls, plain-dealing pound cake, jam-filled cream cheese cookies, holiday butter cookies—and maybe a cinnamon doughnut. Founded in 1946, this all-American bakeshop isn’t above using a little shortening and a splash of food coloring. Nor, thank goodness, is the staff above coming to the rescue when you dash in just before closing, all out of breath, and beg for a Superman cake inscribed with “Happy Birthday Max.”

I just saw in the 8/12 issue that Cramer's was listed as the best bakery in Bucks County. I live in Yardley, I patronize Cramer's occasionally because it's convenient, and it's perfectly fine. But best in Bucks? First of all, McCaffrey's Supermarket in Yardley has better baked goods locally. I haven't explored the whole county, but how can Cramer's compare with C'est La Vie in New Hope or Crossroads Bakery in Doylestown. Bucks County-ites, at least in the Yardley-Newtown area, are NOT foodies, and that is why Cramer's survives and thrives.

I have been a customer of Cramer's since my wedding 25 years ago and have never been disappointed until now and boy did they disappoint. We ordered a tier cake for my daughter's baby shower for 50 people. We took Jamie, the cake coordinators advice and paid a whopping $310 for the cake, I thought oh well for my first grandchild and my baby girl. When I arrived at the restaurant, the cake was much much smaller than I anticipated, decorated nicely buth not up to the usual standards. Everyone remarked how small the cake looked, when I told them the price they were shocked, I have been to affairs with larger, more delicious and beautifully decorated cakes for less than half the price. The slices were cut so small because it didnt look like it would feed the 50. The cannoli filling was barely there and everyone remarked that the chocolate part tasted like cheap hot chocolate. I called back Jamie and she spoke to the owner, they basically wanted to give me $50 gift card, I asked for $50 refund, since I don't live in the area anymore and wouldn't go out of my way to go back there again. No response, real good business. Big flop, I wouldn't waste my money on anything @ Cramer's ever again. Terrible cake and terrible customer relations, especially to Jamie, who couldn't even return my call when I asked for a credit intstead of gift certificate. No stars

Back in the early 60's Cramers had a Bakery in Morrisville near the old Drive In. Us kids could gather out back at quitting time and get free donuts before closing. My to-die-for concoction was a long, powder sugar covered, cream filled bomb of a donut. Soft, succulent dough with a cream that was, well creamy! We'd get some donuts and take then to our tree-house just behind the Drive In Fence and munch away many a summer evening while watching the show. Best childhood ever with much thanks to Cramers!

I was first introduced to Cramer's as a child. i remember waiting in the car as picked up cakes, etc for various celebrations over the years for church. I am now 41 and live in Maryland. In celebration of my mother's 77 birthday I only thought of Cramer's and knew my mother would only want Cramer's for this special occassion. They are the best and will work with you under any and all circumstances. Thank you Cramer's!

Not once have I known anyone who received the correct color or decorations on an ordered cake. They will "yes" you to death, but use purple instead of lavender or orange instead of pink. There is no creativity or uniquness at this bakery. It just happens to be the only bakery in the town or yardley so they get business and that many of the people in this area are not used to quality and have always used a grocery store for cakes. The batter they use is good, but the service is not so good. They are used to getting what they want because they can. Quality, creativity and understnad what the customer wants is sadly lacking.

Ordered a cake past Saturday for pickup on Monday. I got there and they had lost the ticket somehow. The girl at the counter was not apologetic at all, even though this was a special (aren't they all?) birthday. I came back 30min later and was surprised that it was cash only. Both times I ordered the cake I was not alerted to this fact. Finally came back with cash and got cake. Never going back. Cake was ok at best, and way overpriced.

We ordered a special cake from Cramer's for my sons' bar mitzvah to go with their theme. Cramer's did an amazing job! The cake looked fabulous (like a deserted island with tikis & a treaure chest)& tasted great. Everyone loved it. The cake was reasonably priced and they spent time with us when we ordered it to really understand what we were looking for & they nailed it!! We also ordered petite fores and cupcakes from them for our party & they were amazing too! Way to go Cramer's. I was not a regular customer prior to this but I am now!!

Our wedding cake was both elegant and delicious. Despite the already wonderful reputation of Cramer's, the cake was still far beyond expectations for price (so reasonable!)and size (smaller wedding,2 tier cake). Many guests told us it was the best wedding cake that they'd ever had. We agree!

There is only great things to be said about Cramer's Bakery. We moved to Lewes, DE 5 years ago and the biggest thing we miss is a good bakery. I am about to order an Anniversary Cake from Cramer's and they baked all of the Wedding Cakes for all of the family weddings. Friendly and accomodating people and wonderful baked goods. For those of you that need fancy - they can also do fancy.

This has been our family bakery for years. I called upon them to craft my wedding cake, and what work they did. Not only was it a work of art, but the taste was superb as usual.
