When you’re in her kitchen, you laugh at Carman’s cheeky business cards, you simply say Bon voyage! when she closes the tiny breakfast spot unexpectedly for vacation, and you accept that there are only four menu options. That’s easy when the options include French toast with melted ice cream, perfectly Southern fried chicken, and an invariably delicious kitchen-sink omelet.
