Another of Center City’s chain steakhouses, Capital Grille is popular with the power-lunch and power-dinner crowds. (The rest of City Hall is across the street at The Palm.) There's no more cigar smoke at the bar, but a food-friendly wine list with more than 400 choices and the substantial steaks, dry-aged on premises, give the restaurant a permanent three-martini-lunch atmosphere. For dessert, try the chocolate espresso cake.

I've had good meals at the CG in DC, so was happy to see them here. If quality means anything, they won't be here long. We stopped in on a Friday without a reservation but were seated immediately. After a ridiculously long wait, our server appeared and was pleasant enough, the only good part of our visit. After a seemingly eternal wait, our food arrived. My steak was both overcooked and cold. Both of our potatoes were cold and our veggies undercooked and cold. If I could have found our server, I'd've complained, but he was nowhere to be seen. It was a terrible meal and way overpriced for the (lack of) quality. I will not return.

My first instinct was to try a new restaurant (preferably a steakhouse) in center city. I always pick an independent over a national chain. I have been here before, but only for cocktails in the lounge area, which I do like. While our server Roz was very friendly, informative and efficient, I couldn't help but feel rushed. The table near the kitchen was loud and frantic. The food was just ok. And the $18 valet tab was padded without our consent to reflect $20 on our bill (not a deal breaker). All in all, Roz was the highpoint of the meal (not including our dear friends). Like all chains I find more SPLASH than substance. We won't be visiting anytime soon.

The hostess is rude. They were running behind on reservations. If the hostess did not know you because you are not "someone" she would just skip over you and give your table away. There was no attempt to find you by calling names or asking your name. When we were finally seated (after witnessing a fight between the rude hostess and some patrons) the food was just ok at best. The waiter was excellent. I have had better steaks at Outback. I would never go back!
