One of the first restaurants in the Loft District, Cafe Lift has a lofty brownstone setting that mirrors the look of the former-warehouse apartments surrounding it, and attracts a crowd of young neighbors. At noon, have a simple grilled chicken-and-sharp-provolone panini, hot and luscious off the panini press, or Thai coconut soup with shrimp and crab; at night, chef Michael Pasquarello presents specials such as ziti puttanesca and walnut-crusted black bass with a white truffle sauce, with background tunes of indie rock or European pop.
