Profile

The nondescript exterior of Blue Sage makes what’s going on inside even more surprising—the place is buried in a characterless mini strip mall. But through the door, jade-green dishes are being plated with mixed organic greens adorned with sun-dried berries and sunflower seeds; with mango slices and watermelon meat; with plantain fritters sagging beneath piles of chunky guacamole—and those are just the appetizers. Chef Mike Jackson and his wife, Holly, serve healthful comfort foods: green apple-pumpkin risotto; triangles of tender polenta surrounding a khorma—or stew—of red lentils, squash and leeks.
