Brats and schnitzels might be taking a turn for the trendy (check out South Streets Brauhaus Schmits), but this Northeast restaurant is the real deal. There’s waitresses with thick accents, tables and tables of weekly-visiting regulars and an oom-pah-pah band on Saturday nights. And while that all adds to the allure of this Northeast institution, it’s the perfectly-fried schnitzels, freshly cooked spaetzle, tangy potato salad, sweet red cabbag and $2.50 draft beers that keep us coming back.

I have to drive 2 hours to go to FOX CHASE Cancer Center about every 6 months and I always stop in for a dark beer and some delicious food--especially the desserts.
