Before the Trop had Carmine’s, before the Borgata had Luke Palladino, before the Walk had Applebee’s, Ducktown had Angelo’s — an authentic, family-run, big-portioned all-(Italian)-American corner eatery. And, it was (and is) good. Angelo’s hides its maze of elbow-to-elbow dining rooms beyond a narrow bar wrapped with a trough (don’t ask what for). Back there, among photos of athletes arranged according to sport, the Mancuso family serves ethereal eggplant rolled around ricotta, airy fried calamari with nearly juicy marinara, addictive sautéed spinach and artichokes, garlicky meatballs over everything, popular lobster ravioli, and clams fra diavolo to sate the thousands of families who’ve been coming here for the past 73 years.
