Imperial Espresso Porter

Ron Vaccarello, owner of Mullica Hill’s Crescent Moon Coffee & Tea Company, decided to set up a stand at a South Jersey beer festival last year and pass out free coffee samples to imbibers before they, well, passed out. It turned out to be a good move: Gene Muller, who was at the festival to tout his Cherry Hill-based Flying Fish beers, sampled the java and had the brilliant idea to utilize the locally roasted coffee beans in his Imperial Espresso Porter, instead of the coffee extract he’d been using. The connection inspired Crescent Moon to develop a special “Hedonistic” blend that matches the chocolate and licorice notes of the beer. And since it’s just a quick shot up 295 from the roasting factory to the brewery, Crescent Moon hand-delivers its product. The limited-edition porter can be found at both Philly locations of the Foodery or tapped at Grey Lodge Pub in the Northeast.
