Wahlburgers — Paul, Marky Mark, and Donnie Wahlberg’s burger chain out of Boston — plopped its first Philadelphia outpost onto the northern tip of Schmidt’s Commons (formerly called Piazza at Schmidt’s), where Darling’s Diner used to hold residence. There, the bros brought their fat-stacked patty melts and “Dorchestah”-inspired burgers to a city already so full of casual burger joints, some chains (Shake Shack, Bareburger, BurgerFi), some not (SpOt Burgers, Sketch Burger, P’unk Burger). When ordering at Wahlburgers, we Philadelphians must give up our mid-Atlantic dialect to Northeast inflections — “fluffanuttas” and “smahlburgers” — which can be a bit awkward, but the product is decent enough, so, eh.

What’s going on Saturday night at the Electric Factory? A special giveaway, a burger truck and Miley Cyrus, that’s what.
As Philadelphia anticipates the soon-to-be opening of The Wahlburgers Food Truck (founded by the famous Wahlburg brothers, Donnie, Paul and Mark) the burger truck is hitting the streets tomorrow to serve its signature sandwiches at the Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz concert.
The Electric Factory, is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary season and the Wahlburgers truck will award one lucky person a “Golden Ticket” that will give them two general admission tickets to every concert through October 1, 2016. All you have to do is answer a trivia question on the Wahlburgers Facebook page to enter to win.

We’ve heard the rumor that Wahlburgers was coming to the Piazza for a few months now, most recently from HughE Dillon, who was told Mark Wahlberg was seen at the former Darling’s Diner yesterday. The burger chain from the Wahlberg clan including exec chef Paul Wahlberg, has four locations and plans for as many more, is also the subject of the A&E TV show Wahlburgers.
Today Mark Wahlberg and the Wahlburgers food truck were filming in front of the Piazza and giving out burgers.
No timeline on when Philadelphia’s first Wahlburgers might open. But keep an eye out for the food truck, Wahlburgers Philadelphia Twitter feed is teasing that the truck is heading somewhere else soon.
