Because, you know, where else would you go to celebrate a thing like that?
Okay, so yeah. Really any bar would do. But Village Whiskey is leaning hard on their impressive collection of brown spirits to throw together a menu of Prohibition-era cocktails, all of which they’re letting go for half price today. Not enough? They’re also offering complimentary champagne. And draft specials (including some from 21st Amendment Brewery). And some music, too.
The festivities are going on all day long. So, if you're serious about your drinking, tell your boss that today is a religious holiday and get over there right now.

Maybe you missed Tuesday night’s Battle of the Joes at Cook but there’s no reason to miss Monday’s Best of Philly burger crawl. Join me, the founder of Foobooz as we tour around Rittenhouse Square eating some past Best of Philly winning burgers.
The night kicks off at Village Whiskey at 5:30 for a half-burger and drink.Village Whiskey is followed by stops at Rouge and Butcher and Singer. At each spot there will be burgers and drinks.

Because sometimes, you just need to start the day with a long pour of John Powers Irish, right? Because maybe you’re thinking that, since it is damn near impossible to get a decent seat at Jose Garces‘s whiskey bar during normal human drinking hours, maybe it’d be best to get a jump on things and hit the bar at 10:30 on a Sunday morning.
For those of you who missed the news, Village Whiskey is now serving brunch–which is really just an excuse to open the doors at 10:30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings and then run straight through lunch, dinner and late-night service. Yes, there’s a new menu in place for the daylight drinkers–eggs benedict, cheddar-and-bacon biscuits and gravy. french toast with bourbon-maple pecans and toasted coconut, and shrimp and grits with andouille-braised chard and a fried egg–and of course there are Bloody Marys to wash it all down with. But really, who in their right mind would waste time with vodka and tomato juice when there’s that whole wall of delicious brown liquors beckoning?
Whiskey: It’s what for breakfast.
