That’s Robert Burns at his weird, Scottish and food-obsessed best, declaring his deathless admiration to that great Chieftain of the pudding race, the haggis.

For those of you who don't already have it on your calendars, Robert Burns Night is coming up, and on Saturday, January 25, the Victoria Freehouse is going to be celebrating the bard's 255th birthday in the only way such a thing is ever celebrated--with haggis, scotch and bagpipes.

Dickens Christmas Roasts At The Victoria Freehouse


Victoria Freehouse is getting all British again with their Dickens-inspired Christmas roasts. For the next two Saturdays (the final two before Christmas is upon us), the Freehouse will be doing a different, three-course British menu (with optional wine and beer pairing). The deal starts at 5pm, goes until 10pm and will run you $25 per person (not counting the booze).

Christmas Ale Happy Hour at Victoria Freehouse


The Victoria Freehouse is offering a special happy hour today of Christmas Ales. For $15 you can get a flight of British holiday beers plus “Devils on Horseback,” stilton stuffed dates wrapped in bacon.

The flights include:

  • Reindeer’s Revolt – English Strong Ale
  • Criminally Bad Elf – English Barleywine style beer
  • Pickled Santa – Winter Warmer style beer
  • Lump of Coal – Foreign Stout beer
