Last night it snowed. Today the wind howled and you had to wonder if this winter would ever just give up. But Twitter is abuzz with photos and tweets that proved spring is indeed here. Local chefs are tweeting up a storm of the ramps they’ve foraged and already gotten onto their menus.
Midtown Lunch checks out Ol’ Boy’s Soul Food Restaurant,at 243 South 6oth Street and finds great lima beans and cornbread. It’s also the fourth anniversary of Midtown Lunch, so congrats to Jamie.
Tonight, South Philadelphia Taproom is doing a Belgian beer takeover. The taps are being turned over to Trappist ales, wild ales, bretty pale ales, sour beers and spiced winter ales. Among the taps will be the recently available in Philadelphia, Seef Beer and the latest Saint Feuillien/Green Flash collaboration, Belgian Coast IPA.
It all begins at 5 p.m. this evening. Also coming up at SPTR, the annual Beef and Beer where the beef and beer are good. It all goes down on Sunday, January 26th.
