When Cameron Mitchell’s steak-and-seafood emporium Ocean Prime debuted in Philadelphia in September, local gossip/photographer/blogger HughE Dillon posted on Facebook about the opening party, writing that the restaurant “must have a lot of confidence in their food” because “they comp’d 500 dinners.” I found that a bit odd, since comping 500 dinners might suggest the opposite. Ocean Prime, the seafood and steak focused restaurant from the Cameron Mitchell Restaurants group with room for 240+ across its dining rooms and bar is officially opening this evening at 15th and Sansom.
The restaurant is the biggest to open in Center City in quite some time. The supper club is 8,500-square-feet and includes a dramatic two story bar and mezanine that overlooks the restaurant.
Philadelphia is the tenth location for the Ocean Prime chain.

We’ve known Ocean Prime was planning on opening at the corner of 15th and Sansom since last August. And now restaurateur Cameron Mitchell has given us an opening date. Look for the American supper club concept to open on Tuesday, September 3rd. It will be the tenth Ocean Prime location Mitchell has opened. Mitchell has also named Sonny Pache as executive chef and Marc Oppen as general manager.
Ocean Prime promises quality seafood, steaks, handcrafted cocktails and wines from around the world. The space is over 8,000 square feet and will seat nearly 130 guests in the main dining room. Three private dining rooms will accommodate 32, 26 and 14 guests. The Blu Lounge will feature 60-seats for bar guests.
