But since then, Philly has experienced something of a pizza boom, with amazing joints opening all over the city. Here are the best of the newcomers shaping our scene today.

Nomad Pizza’s new outpost at 13th and Locust has softly opened. The Roman-style pizzeria was serving guests last night and will do so again this evening as they continue to test things out.
The menu consists of salads, meatballs and twelve pizzas. Pizzas range in price from teh $11 Marinara to the $19 Truffle Pecorino.
The grand opening is set for Friday, October 25th.

Yesterday I referred to Nomad’s new Roman pizzeria as having Roman Al Taglio-style slices of pizza. I was wrong. Al Taglia pizza is common in Rome and almost exclusively served from street vendors. What Nomad’s Tom Grim has in mind is very thin round pies with toppings going right to the edge. I’ll let him explain it from here.
