This week Matyson is celebrating its tenth anniversary. And as Matyson is prone to do, that means celebrating with lobster and champagne. The tasting menu is all about lobster, guests are in charge of bringing their own bubbly. The tasting menu runs now through Thursday, November 21st and runs $45 per person.
Last week, culinary pioneer, chef and restaurateur Charlie Trotter passed away. We’ve already seen a special meal at Will over the weekend and it looks like we’ll see some more commemorative dinners this week.
Matyson is dedicating its weekly tasting menu to the Chicago restaurateur. Tonight through Thursday the “Grand Finale Tribute to Charlie Trotter will be offered for $45 per person.
Chip Roman, who first heard about Charlie Trotter when he was 19 and working in Marc Vetri’s kitchen is hosting a special tribute dinner tomorrow, November 12th. Roman bought all of Trotter’s books which he says were “very out of my league at the time.” But tomorrow he looks to heed Trotter’s advice about balance in his special $45 per person dinner at Conshohocken’s Blackfish.
At Blackfish the menu is all about lobster. And if lobster doesn’t scare you, maybe the vampire squid will. No? OK, how about the price? $45 for a four-course lobster tasting dinner? Nope, ok maybe Blackfish isn’t so scary.
At Mica it’s a foie gras-centric menu. Ewww, liver. No? Not scared? Well at least the Hanibal Lector first course and bloody beet ravioli fit the season.
Matyson is going with a Franken-food theme. Puchowitz and his staff are combining unusual ingredients to make winning combinations. Eating anything named “Fnocchi” takes some bravery.
