Watermelon salad at Devil’s Den
Did you know there is a day just to celebrate watermelon? Neither did I, but apparently it is a thing and to celebrate the day, two bars are hosting Watermelon Day events on Wednesday, August 3rd.
City Tap House – University City is hosting a good old-fashioned watermelon eating contest. At 6:30 p.m. you can attempt to win some Phillies tickets and $100 gift card to City Tap by eating the most watermelon. To sign up email firstname.lastname@example.org.

If you absolutely cannot wait another minute for Yards to release this year’s Cape of Good Hope Double IPA, they’ve released a test batch/teaser for us—Sprung From Hope Double IPA, a collaboration brew with City Tap House.
“Sprung From Hope” is made from a variety of hops including Azacca, Galaxy, Mosaic, Citra, and whole flower Cascade hops, leaving tastes of citrus, mango, melon, and pine with a 9.9% ABV. You can find it at City Tap House University City and City Tap House Logan Square, as well as Field House.
And here’s some exciting news: we don’t have to wait until August to get our hands on Cape of Good Hope—it’s releasing early this year—May 1st.

Summer is coming early at City Tap House University City today, March 5th, with the tapping of Flying Dog Brewery‘s new Mexican lager, Numero Uno Summer Cerveza, and a Mexican brunch.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can try Numero Uno and sip on some other Flying Dog beers along with Cerveza-ritas and Micheladas.
